Leytonstone-born singer-songwriter Murkage Dave’s debut album ‘Murkage Dave Changed My Life’ was released in 2018. Released independently, the album has now amassed over 10 million streams, and anticipation is high for the follow up.
It’s no surprise that his defiantly British sound – a pop blend that’s rooted in a youth spent listening to garage and R&B, but also revealing formative years in Manchester absorbing The Smiths and Joy Division – is attracting fans globally. He’s collaborated with Mike Skinner, Jaykae, Skepta and Parisian producer Hologram Lo, US “Night Bass” originator AC Slater and French rapper Nekfeu – even earning a triple-platinum plaque for his contribution to the latter’s ‘Cyborg’. While working on his new album, he’s had the honour of working with a diverse range of globally respected talent including trip hop pioneer Tricky, pop artist Caroline Polachek and LA rap veteran Evidence.
His debut headline show at Sebright Arms sold out within 24 hours prior to the release of the album, and tickets for his subsequent UK headline tour went even faster – eventually having to upgrade his London show to Omeara to accommodate the overwhelming demand. His October ‘Keep Up The Bad Work Tour’ sold out in five of ten cities, including Manchester’s YES and London’s Studio 9294.
