London-based Flyte began to form when Will Taylor (vocals, guitar) started playing age 11 with friends from his local school. Later, Nick Hill (bass, vocals) would join after a series of line-up changes. Taylor’s parents were both English teachers and inevitably, various literary influences trickled into the bands music – the band even taking its name from Sebastian Flyte of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited.
