Shigeto’s music is vividly beautiful, electronic and beat-driven but given to richly textured sound design, rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous.

His body of work has grown over the last few years to the tune of several EPs and remixes for the likes of Tycho, Beautiful Bells, Shlohmo, and more while his albums on Ghostly International are nominally indebted to instrumental hip-hop but touch on cool shades of ambient music, stuttering early IDM, dubstep sub-bass, and jazz.

All of which is now coming together for his new and impressive Live Ensemble joined by saxophonist Marcus Elliot and pianist Ian Fink.

Following a couple of collaborations in Detroit over the last 12 months, the trio debuted their full show in May 2018 at a sold out show at New York’s Elsewhere venue in Brooklyn, with further spots at Movement in Detroit and the new Adult Swim block party in LA later this autumn. The trio are re-presenting the music of Shigeto that carries across his entire recorded output of four albums plus myriad EPS and collaborations for Michigan’s vaunted Ghostly label.
